Meet one of my favorite meddlers, Mr. Oswald Chambers. (The Lord uses him to clothesline me quite often.)

"Our ordinary and reasonable service to God may actually compete against our total surrender to Him. Our reasonable work is based on the following argument which we say to ourselves, “Remember how useful you are here, and think how much value you would be in that particular type of work.” That attitude chooses our own judgment, instead of Jesus Christ, to be our guide as to where we should go and where we could be used the most. Never consider whether or not you are of use— but always consider that “you are not your own” (1 Corinthians 6:19). You are His." (from "My Utmost For His Highest")

clothes·line
/ˈklō(T͟H)zˌlīn/

Noun
A rope or wire on which washed clothes are hung to dry.
Verb
(chiefly in football and other games) Knock down (a runner) by placing one's outstretched arm in the runner's path at neck level.

I love hanging out laundry. It's a quiet, peaceful blessing, slowing me down, getting me out of the house and into the breeze and sunshine, and getting me alone with the Lord. So many times He has met me in this simple daily task, among the wet clothes, and talked with me, and taught me so many things about Himself, His heart, His will, and His love for me. Hence, a "clotheline moment".

Then there are those other times when I am running full speed, doing what I think is some great work for Him, and altogether missing Him, His heart, His will, and His love for me. It is those times when, in His great faithfulness, He stops me in my tracks and hangs me out to dry. Hence, a "clothesline moment".

Thanks for hanging out here with me. :)
